The Digital Determinants App is for a
research study run by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
(LSHTM). It helps us securely study how digital habits might affect real-life
behaviours.
Important:
Use of this app is 100% voluntary. You are here because you have provided
informed consent to take part in the TikTok data donation activity as part of an
LSHTM research study.
What the App Does
This app lets you securely share a copy
of your TikTok activity in four simple steps:
1. Connect: You start
the process by clicking the “Continue with TikTok” button below.
2. Choose: A screen
will show you exactly what data categories are being shared.
3. Authorise: You will
be sent to TikTok’s official login page to give your permission.
4. Confirm: Once
finished, you will get a Research Completion Code. Please copy and paste this
code into the main study survey when you finish.
Keeping You Safe
To protect your privacy, this app is
“passive”. This means it CANNOT and will NOT
· See or
store your TikTok password.
· Post
anything to your profile, message your friends, or see your private messages
(DMs).
· Change
your TikTok account settings or bio.
How We Protect
Your Information
LSHTM is responsible for keeping your
information safe. Your information is sent directly to LSHTM’s secure server.
All personal identifiers – including your TikTok username, account ID, and any
information that could identify you – are removed before we start our research.
This means we study patterns across people, not individuals. We follow strict
UK data protection laws to keep your information safe – it is never used for
advertising or commercial purposes.
Relationship to
TikTok
We are separate from TikTok. Using this
tool does not change your TikTok account or your relationship with them.
